Basic Policy

Our company and group companies (Note) recognize that ensuring the accuracy and safely managing the personal information (information that can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, or other description, as well as information that includes personal identification codes) we obtain from individual customers, business partners, shareholders, etc. is a serious responsibility, and in order to fulfill this responsibility, we handle personal information based on the following policy.

Note: This Privacy Policy is the basic policy for the protection of personal information that is common to our company and our group companies. In this Privacy Policy, “group companies” refers to our domestic subsidiaries. Our company and our group companies are sometimes collectively referred to as our group.

  • 1. We will comply with the Personal Information Protection Law and other related laws and regulations. We will also ensure that proper management is carried out and maintained in accordance with our company’s “Personal Information Protection Regulations” and “Information Security Regulations”, and we will strive for continuous improvement.

Purpose of Use of Personal Information

The personal information of customers and other individuals obtained by our group will only be used for the following purposes unless the individual in question gives their consent.

Whether or not the information is provided to a third party

Our company will thoroughly manage the information provided by our customers as follows.

Outsourcing of Personal Information in the Electricity Retail Business

We may share the personal information we have obtained with the following parties. Please note that we will only share the personal information of customers, etc. with businesses that are necessary for the purpose of sharing, and we will not necessarily share the personal information of customers, etc. with all retail electricity providers and general transmission and distribution providers.

1. Purpose of joint use
  • ・For the conclusion, amendment or cancellation of a Trasnmission Service Agreement or a Power Generation Adjustment Service Agreement (hereinafter referred to as a “Transmission Service Agreement, etc.”)
  • ・To terminate a retail supply contract or an electricity supply and demand contract (hereinafter referred to as a “retail supply contract”)(※4
  • ・To confirm information regarding the point of supply (receiving electricity)
  • ・For the purpose of carrying out the duties of general power transmission and distribution businesses based on the Wheeling Service Agreement, such as metering of electricity, maintenance, inspection and replacement of facilities, and investigation of facilities in the event of power outages or disasters, etc.
2.Items of personal information to be shared
  • ・Name, address, telephone number, and contract number for retail supply contracts (hereinafter referred to collectively as “basic information”)
  • ・Supply area of the general transmission and distribution utility that has concluded a Transmission Service Agreement, etc., subject to the isolated island supply provisions, supply (receiving electricity) point identification number, Transmission Service Agreement volume information, current upper limit, connection transmission service menu, power factor, supply method, method of determining Transmission Agreement, meter information, pole number, presence or absence of grid connection equipment, date of Transmission Agreement change, meter reading date, contract status, decommissioning method (hereinafter collectively referred to as “information on the supply (receiving electricity) point”).

4.Person in charge of managing the personal information to be shared
  • ・Basic Information: Refers to the electricity retailer with whom the customer has entered into a retail supply agreement. (However, it refers to the general electricity transmission and distribution operator for basic information regarding customers receiving supply in isolated islands or last resort service.)
  • ・Information Regarding Service (Supply) Points: Refers to the general electricity transmission and distribution operator whose service (supply) point is within the service area.
  • (*1) An electricity retailer refers to a business operator who has not been subject to any reasons for denial of registration as stipulated in Article 2, Section 5, Paragraph 1 of the Electricity Business Act (Act No. 170 of 1964, and after the enforcement of the Act No. 72 of 2014, which amends parts of the Electricity Business Act, etc.) and has been registered by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry as an electricity retailer.   • (*2) A general electricity transmission and distribution operator refers to Hokkaido Electric Power Company, Tohoku Electric Power Company, TEPCO Power Grid Inc., Chubu Electric Power Company, Hokuriku Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Chugoku Electric Power Company, Shikoku Electric Power Company, Kyushu Electric Power Company, and Okinawa Electric Power Company.
  • (*3) Refers to an organization that promotes the servicing of the transmission and distribution network necessary for the wide-area utilization of power sources and neutrally conducts tasks related to the reception of new power source connections and the publication of grid information.
  • (*4) “Retail Supply Contract Termination Intermediary” refers to an electricity retailer that, upon receiving a new application for a retail supply contract from a customer, acts on behalf of the customer through the switching support system to submit a termination request for the existing retail supply contract to the current electrical retailer.

Outsourcing of Personal Information in the Electricity Retail Business

In order to smoothly conduct our electricity retail business, we may outsource some of our operations to financial institutions, credit card companies, payment processing companies, call center management companies, and others. In such cases, we may provide personal information to these outsourcing partners to the extent necessary for their tasks. In such instances, we will establish necessary provisions regarding the proper handling of personal information with the outsourcing partners and ensure appropriate supervision.
